Just a smart choice for a brief stop-in in Hilo with all in all brilliant value for money. The double bunk bed was surprisingly comfortable, which was a nice surprise. Make sure to check for working toilets before settling in.

We loved staying at this charming hostel with our child. The location is fantastic, right near downtown Hilo. The owner was friendly and even arranged a waterfall tour for us, which was truly unforgettable. The atmosphere had a cozy vibe, perfect for families.
My wife says that the number of toilets could be better. Having only one functional female toilet for the whole hostel isn’t ideal, especially for families with children.

The staff was really friendly and attentive, made me feel welcome right off the bat. Also, the kitchen was a real lifesaver, all the essentials were there, which helped keep my costs down.
It wasn't exactly a bargain, but the value was acceptable for what you get.

The location is fantastic, right in downtown Hilo, close to shops and the bay. The common area is cozy, perfect for meeting fellow travelers. I loved how the staff organized tours. the sunset trip to the volcano was a highlight. I found the beds comfortable, but cleanliness was a major issue. Cockroaches were everywhere, and I dealt with a noticeable mold issue in the bathroom. The kitchen was decent, but it could use more storage containers for food. Showers were hot, but the lack of privacy was a bit off-putting. The curtain as a bathroom door didn't offer much security. Noise from the road was pretty distracting at night. The free Wi-Fi was unreliable, which was frustrating. On my second night, I woke up to bugs crawling on my bed, which made me reconsider staying any longer. Overall, great potential, but there are clear areas for improvement.

The kitchen area is well-equipped and perfect for cooking. Unfortunately, there were many mosquitoes which made it hard to enjoy the outdoor space. Great location near the beach and local shops. Friendly staff helped organize fun evening activities like pub crawls.
